From Raw Materials
to Semiconductor
Manufacturing

ReSiLient connects resource development, recovery, processing, material validation and future uptake. Its objectives address supply resilience, sustainable production, semiconductor qualification and routes to industrial deployment.

01

Supply-Chain Resilience

ReSiLient addresses critical dependencies across Europe’s silicon and silicon carbide value chains. It assesses domestic minerals and secondary feedstocks and aligns new production routes with Europe’s strategic raw-material and semiconductor priorities.

02

Sustainable Production at Scale

The project develops and demonstrates two integrated production routes: a primary route using domestic mineral resources and a secondary route based on industrial by-products and waste streams. Technical and environmental performance will be assessed against relevant conventional baselines.

03

Semiconductor Qualification

Project-produced silicon, metallurgical-grade silicon and silicon carbide will be assessed against industrial requirements. End-user validation supports an understanding of material purity, performance and relevance for semiconductor manufacturing.

04

Competitiveness and Exploitation

ReSiLient evaluates production chains in relation to cost, carbon footprint and supply security. The project also addresses intellectual property, regulatory considerations and future pathways for scale-up and adoption.
